Jenn Gent was one of the first local moms we started working with almost 2 years ago! It was clear from the first time we met her that she was super creative and talented...and that her beautiful products would become customer favorites. Cupcake and Co is best known in our store for its adorable Pillowcase Dresses (or, One Sweet Dress, as Jenn calls it). Originally made from actual pillowcases (back in the day), these dresses have been updated by using designer fabrics and mixing and matching fun patterns. Jenn has perfected this technique and the result is something unique--they start out as a dress, then they 'grow' with your child to become a top worn with pants or leggings. They can also be worn year-round with or without a top underneath. And what a deal at only $28! Sizes 6 -24 months.
We asked Jenn some questions to find out more about her creative side: 1) What are your favorite means of creating? Currently my favorite is sewing, but I also enjoy photography, graphic design, cardmaking, scrapbooking, and pretty much anything crafty. 2) How long have you been creating? I did my first needlepoint craft when I was six. I learned to sew when I was about 12. My grandma was very crafty and always had projects for me to try. 3) What inspires your designs? My daughter Anna Kate. I will need to switch gears to thinking about boy things with a new baby boy due to arrive soon. I also subscribe to a lot of creative blogs. Etsy is another fun place to peruse. 4) What is your favorite material to work with? Fabric and ribbon. 5) What is the biggest thing you’ve learned about yourself from creating? Three years ago I went from working full-time to being a a full-time mom and, although I've always been creative, I now need time to create as a way to keep my sanity! When I sew it gives me a chance to be alone and just think.
